2025 Updates and Information
This year, we are offering 1 trip for students and residents with mentorship from US ISPO board members. There will be substantial hands-on experience with patients of a variety of different diagnoses and presentations. The Mexico trip will focus mainly on prosthetics care in a low income setting. Students will work one-on-one with mentors and patients. Applications open to student/resident members of US ISPO only. Mexico Service Learning Opportunity

Application Information: Applications are now closed. Congratulations to the following residents for being selected to join our mentors on the 2025 trip. Megan Wright is currently completing her prosthetics residency at the University of California, San Francisco. She previously completed her Master of Prosthetics and Orthotics from the University of Washington. Prior to pursuing her clinical degree, she gained nearly a decade of experience as an ABC-certified prosthetic technician, working at the Center for the Intrepid and in private practice. Megan is honored to join the US-ISPO Service-Learning Trip to Querétaro, Mexico. This will be her first service-learning experience with ISPO, and she looks forward to contributing meaningfully while broadening her perspective through an introduction to the cultural, social, and practical considerations of global humanitarian work. She is eager to continue growing as a compassionate, culturally responsive clinician.
Kingsley Isiguzo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Technology, specializing in Orthotics and Prosthetics Rehabilitation from the prestigious Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria. He is currently undergoing his residency training in dual discipline of Orthotics and Prosthetics with Aspire Prosthetics and Orthotics Inc, to become a Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist Clinician in the United States of America. His academic background, combined with clinical and technical experience, equips him to provide exceptional care and innovative solutions for those in need of assistive devices. He has been recognized and awarded for his excellence, dedication and commitment to service.
About this experience: This trip will give US students and residents an opportunity to experience prosthetic focused care from a global perspective. Working closely with your mentor, you will see a variety of patients over the course of 1 week that include upper and lower extremity prosthetics . You will gain significant hands on experience in patient evaluation, casting, fabrication fitting, and follow up as well as learn alongside students from the local university! Be sure to check out photos from the last trip in our photo gallery! Cost: Cost this year will be $850 to be paid to USISPO for trip support, coordination and lodging. This cost does not include the airfare from your location to Querétaro. This will be the applicant's responsibility. Who can apply You MUST be a US ISPO student member to apply for this opportunity. About this experience: This trip will give US students and residents an opportunity to experience P&O care from a global perspective. Working closely with your mentor, you will see a variety of patients over the course of 1 week that range from pediatric spine to upper and lower prosthetic patients. You will gain significant hands on experience in patient evaluation, casting, fabrication fitting, and follow up. Application Information: Applications are now closed.
