The American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA) and its partners, The U.S. National Member Society of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (USISPO); and the German Association of Orthopaedic Technology/Con.fair.med are pleased to announce this call for papers for the 2013 World Congress to be held Sept. 18-21, 2013 at the Gaylord Palms Resort, Orlando, Florida, USA.

SKILLS FOR LIFE 3

USISPO was pleased to serve as the organizational sponsor the Skills for Life 3 Upper Limb Loss Workshop which took place in Denver, Colorado (USA), October 12-16, 2011. The triennial event included a series of workshops devoted specifically to issues faced by individuals with bilateral upper limb loss. Participants at the unique workshop included twenty-seven bilateral upper limb amputees, their spouses/caregivers, physical and occupational therapists, physicians, prosthetists and exhibitors.

120 participants traveled from Sweden, Canada, Germany, Madagascar, Austria and all parts of the U.S. for the workshop.

The bi-lateral participants enjoyed and learned new skills during the new “Activity Day" which was added to provide practice on adapted cycles, trying out and adapting gym equipment, swimming in the hotel pool, as well as playing some fun XBox Kinect games.
