U.S. ISPO seeks to promote and facilitate the care of people with physical disabilities in under-served regions of the world (including our own country). U.S. ISPO endorses the comprehensive team approach, balancing efforts of a variety of disciplines.

To achieve this goal, U.S. ISPO will hold educational conferences, sponsor scholarships and act as a resource for information, materials and expertise.

We wish to lead our professions, through our programs and by example, to a world view that helps to disseminate knowledge and patient care to areas in need throughout the world.

Message from the Chair

Kistenberg, MPH, CP, FAAOP

Colleagues,

US ISPO has continued to gain momentum through a variety of activities and communication tools. This newsletter is sandwiched between the success of recent events and the anticipation of some great ones to come.

US ISPO's second Reaching Beyond Our Borders 2007 (RBOB 07) Caribbean Rim conference in Cancun, Mexico far exceeded everyone's expectations. The conference was a partnership between the US and Latin America with over 140 participants representing Mexico, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Guatemala and the U.S. Special thanks to John Craig, CPO for arranging a program that set the bar quite high for quality. If you missed this conference, it is understandable that you may be disappointed but fret not.
