ISPO 2023 19th World Congress
Guadalajara, Mexico
The ISPO World Congresses is a premiere global event for prosthetics, orthotics, and assistive technology services that improve mobility and quality of life for people with physical disabilities. As ISPO President, it is my privilege to invite you to Guadalajara, Mexico in 2021 to join us in celebrating ISPO’s 50th anniversary, sharing ideas and innovations to improve assistive technology knowledge and services, exploring the trade exhibition, and connecting with other delegates in the various social activities.
The World Congress theme is “The Art and The Science”. This theme brings together two important aspects of prosthetic and orthotic care. The “Art” can refer to elite craftsmanship and clinical experience that is applied when providing appropriate services for assistive technology consumers. “Art” can also relate to the personalization and artistic aspects of device design that incorporates the user’s personality and feelings, moving an assistive device beyond just a piece of technology. The “Science” incorporates innovation, evidence, and knowledge translation across the spectrum of prosthetic and orthotic services to enable end-users to receive appropriate services at the right time, the right place, and the right cost.
This World Congress is jointly supported by ISPO Mexico, ISPO Canada, and US-ISPO. This regional collaboration between ISPO member societies is a fantastic example of how working together can create great outcomes.
We are in an exciting era of innovation and opportunity. I look forward to seeing you in Guadalajara to share and enjoy the many possibilities.
As ISPO’s flagship meeting, the ISPO World Congress is a unique interactive forum where the global community of professionals involved in the care of persons in need of prosthetic, orthotic, mobility and assistive devices comes together to learn about the latest scientific and clinical advances, products, innovative technologies, designs and materials in P&O care.
Every two years, the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) invites professionals involved in the care of persons in need of prosthetic, orthotic, mobility, and assistive devices to its unique and interactive flagship meeting, the ISPO World Congress. The global ISPO community meets to learn about the latest scientific and clinical advances, products, innovative technologies, designs, and materials in prosthetic and orthotic care.
